Pompon is one of the areas in Postknight and its sequel, presented as a lush, vibrant forest with countryside village as your base.
Initially, during the first game, it was your first area the player enters, and later let you enter Shello Bay after finish the area. Until seven years later, you have to finish deliveries at Maille to enter, and later let you enter Caldemount afterwards.
Overview[]
Pompon has a very earthy and natural coloring to it, containing many light greens, yellows for the roadway and clear blue skies. The pathway is rugged but clear, only obscured by low tufts of grass in the foreground with tall trees in the immediate background blocking large chunks of the sky. Most of the houses are made of hay, stone and wood either in light neutral colors or in a complete black hue like Alchemist Fiora's house.
Within Pompon is a Leader, Blacksmith, Alchemist and Trader, though require the player to progress partially though Pompon's story to bring them back. There are two bond partners located in Pompon, Magnolia, Chief Merrick's daugther at the Inn and Fleur, Fiora's daugther at the Apothecary.
Seven years later, Pompon was left leaderless, half of familiar faces retired, and lately both flora and fauna had changed due to migration and forest fires. Examples being Dire Wolves and local herbs had both migrated to Maille, and fires lured fire creatures into the fray.
This time, the player need to progress all the way though Pompon's story to gain access to the mailbox to do Delivery Quest. There are two bond partners located in Pompon, Morgan the musician at the Inn, and Flint the kleptomaniac at the Local Store.
Story[]
As the player begins the game, they are introduced to the role of Postknight, assigned to Pompon as their first assignment. Initially, the village is all but deserted, due to the false reporting of a dragon coming to attack the village.
The first task presented to the player is to find the villagers and the Chief Merrick's granddaughter Magnolia, which goes on without much difficulty. After rounding up the villagers, the player encounters Fleur as she tries to gather up herbs for a local annual delivery. At first her nervous nature gets the better of her, causing her to flee away from the player, but eventually opens up with them as they progress down the routes.
After Fleur has collected her herbs, she entrusts the player with their delivery, which is temporarily compromised by the Bandit Chief whom steals it for himself. After battling with the Bandits at their source, the player reclaims the herbs and properly delivers them.
Items & Content[]
As the player progresses through the levels of Pompon, they will collect Tier One Equipment and Brewing Items. They will also receive the Red Potion once the Alchemist Fiora returns to town.
Enemies of Pompon range from Dire Wolves in various stages of growth to local bandits and their Chief, loosely fitting the forest theme and introducing the player to the main faces of corruption they will face in the next villages. Later in seven years, Dire Wolves had migrated to Maille, replaced by enraged Honey Bears and a new evil cult, called them Draconian Order lead by Leader Haman along with Salamanders and Shuttles razed the valley.
